I am an over paid bum............................................... ................I was medically retired from the Army in 2006. And then made unemployable by the VA in 2007. I am a stay at home dad now. None of this is by choice either. While I make enough to live being on a fixed income SUCKS TOTALLY. I always get the "Must be nice to be retired" well when you didn't plan on it and your retired young it isn't all it is cracked up to be.

I'd love to go back to work and I'd really love to be able to go to Afganistan and fight the good fight. Sorry for the vent but I ain't been having a good few months.

Telecom Entrepreneur. We connect "new tech" applications to the "old school" telephone network. It is a great, recession proof biz!

Thanks for your service and sacrifice Wildman. A good USMC pal of mine is facing the same road you are on. He is doing his best to stay in but Zer0's downsizing of the military is hitting hard.

Well, was retired and workin' for the DOD (total service time/w contract work was about 30 years). But after march of this year and being diagnosed with stage III and operated on, the oncologist told me I should not work anymore, untill I am diagnosed free of "c" and after the treatments stop (march 2013). After that I might be able to come out of the retired/disabled catagorie I have found myself propelled into.
