After viewing Chainsaw's wellnut video, losing them is no longer an issue, so there's no real reason to go through all of this work.

Bandit, just watched Chainsaws video. Why didn't I think of doing that way? Lol. I'm still not crazy about the wellnuts though. Tighten them too tight and they are ruined, not tight enough and start to come loose!

you can still give the plans away, but i would patent it anyway. if you don't someone else will and will be making money off of your idea, and before you know it, they'll be sending you a cease and desist letter making you stop making your own....
think it won't happen? look at what happened with diamond heads. and that was just a 'process' not even an actual item.

Yeah I would just patent it and put your name on it. After I saw that movie with the whole wiper idea being stolen by the big 3.....that just tells me put your name on the idea and you decide who gets to have it. Like HD should be charged for it, then they'll raise the price of the bikes another 2,000 for the mounting style upgrade.

I have been trying to find a source for them myself. They were bolts I had in one of my cabinets and that my dad gave me. I think they are studs that go on the seat track for a Chevy van. They came from a GM plant years ago. I am still on the hunt for them. I thought about using either a carriage bolt or a standard hex bolt with the head milled down as a substitute.

I don't know if I'm able to mill down the head bolts
