Default How much are stock 96" heads worth??

My builder wants to make me a offer on my used stock 96" heads so I would like some ideas on the worth of the heads, the heads are in good shape. I am not looking to get top dollar for the heads I just want to get a fair price. Would it be better for me to keep the stock heads for spares or sell them on my own instead of dealing with the builder?

I say, give him a great deal, you know he gave you one, or you would have gone someplace else!

+1 on this.

Easy way to get on the builders good side, they will remember it down the road.

I am paying around $1300 for the new heads after they are polished so I don't thing I am getting a great deal. This is my first time doing business with this builder and the reason I went with him is because he has 25 years experience and his shop is immaculate (you could eat off the floor) and after doing some research I couldn't find any bad reviews about his work. He is the only builder with a machine shop in a 200 mile radius as well and that helped with my decision. Still I am paying top dollar to have this work done.

As stated in the other post, stock 96 heads are pretty easy to come by and cheap. Unless you have a specific use for them, they will probably sit and collect dust. I also agree the price you are paying for the modified heads is not on the low side. Do you plan to have anymore work done in the future? If so the shop will probably cut you a good deal if you do the same for them, JMO.

I thought you were staying with a torque style build. Heads that cost $1300 are normally for .625 plus lift cams and high rpm hp.

Do you care to share where you are having the work done?
