Voltmeter pegging 15.5
Never had this problem before. Whether my heated gear is on or off, voltmeter reading 15.5 while at speed -- no change at idle. Got home, turned off bike, then turned on ignition but did not start -- voltmeter went right to 12 even. I'm running the battery tender now --- 15.5 is the highest I've seen. Thoughts? DOOF

Start the bike up and check the voltage at the battey terminals with a multimeter to see if it matches up to the gauge. Check it at idle and at 1500 rpms. If in fact it is 15 plus vdc then you have a bad voltage regulator.

+1 on what tmd said. Check with separate meter.

Thnx pal -- on google I found the pdf notice -- I'll take that to stealer tomorrow -- I went onto HD site - my vin is on my profile but RECALL info won't come up unless I post a pic of my bike --- too funny. No time for that nonsense tonight -- thnx again, DOOF

mines been pegged out for months now,no issues so never got it checked.probably should get it looked at in the spring while still under warrenty.

Just back from dealer:
- my VIN did not have the recall
- diagnostics run showed charging system OK
- I have 6 pages of printouts but only understand my name and the date
- at battery checks also OK
- = broken volt gauge in dash
- warranty covered -- they ordered the gauge.
