Running a SERT from HD... need to upgrade or not?
Currently running the SERT from HD w/ SE heavy breather and stock 2:1 w/ SE slip on.
Recently picked up RH 4" slip ons and now trying to decide on a 2:1:2 or dragos true duals.
Should I upgrade my tuner ? or just try and find a map for my SERT (if Im not mistaken I can download maps to the HD SERT).
See tons on posts of the different tuner but hardly nothing on the SERTS.

i have dragos TD with 4" setup,Ness Stage 1 AC and SERT. Had a harley mechanic tune bike for me with his laptop no dyno. He did a good job, he plugged in what i had and uploaded the map. The bike is 90% there without a dyno it will never be 100%. decel pop is slight but bearable. in summer the bike runs crappy but i understand that is always the case. I dont think u need to change tuner just give it to someone who can tune with it. In NY, Maroney's in Newburgh has a great tuner. Good Luck

The problem with installing a SERT is that as stated to really get it totally dialed in you have to soend mucho $$$$ for dyno time and then when you make changes to what you had on the bike originally you will need it retuned and more $$$$. I used to work at HD dealer and that's how they make $$$ in service dept. I have always used the V/H Fuel pak and gotten great results. Easy to install and program yourself any time you make changes. I get good performance and gas mileage !!

Why don't you put in a set of cams and have it tuned you well wake the bike up and be a lot happier guys on here or always selling a set of cams se 255 0r 254 you can get exact fit push rods and a good dyno tech can get it dialed in .And I went with the fulsac header my bike runs strong and gets real good gsm

Keep the SERT. For the money you spend on a new tuner you could get the bike dyno tuned. Just my 2 cents.

True but the next change i make I'll be back at the dealer buying more dyno time.
I'm not into tuning so my real dilemma is to keep the SERT or buy am auto tuner.

I have the SE Pro Race Tuner and used the Smart Tune. The bike runs great and I have really good gas mileage too. Everything was done using a laptop. It may not be 100% but it is dang close. My dealer didn't even recommend nor try to sell me dyno time so how good is that.

I use the SERT with good results. As was stated, the key is finding someone that knows what they're doing to tune it.
In the future work the retune into the price of the work you're doing or buy the program and do it yourself.
