k&n oil filters
i came across this earlier and thought i'd share. i don't know anything about this company, but this is the best price i've seen for the k&n black oil filters.
http://www.streetsideauto.com/search...ywords=kn-171b
even with the $10 shipping charge (free if over $100), it still comes out to about $10 per filter if you order 4....
if you've had experience with this company, or if you have a better price, lets hear it.

Not that I have anything against K&N but the HD filters are only $8.95 list price. Order them from PC Pain and you can get them at a discount.

Good find Scratch. Been using nothin but K&N oil filters for many years now. I read an independent lab review several years ago comparing them to H-D and the other usual suspects, K&N came out on top in all categories.
I also run them on our cages.

I use a totally different kind of filter now, but I loved the K&N. The 17mm head makes things easy.

i pretty much use the oem filters myself, but understand that when hd says 5 micron, they are not giving you the whole story. just like with their oil, they are very tight lipped about the 'true' specs of the filters.
they can say it filters down to 5 microns, but at what pressure? what percentage of particles does it catch? even a 30 micron filter will manage to catch a few 5 micron particles.

I too am a big fan of Wix filters. Been a mechanic for going on 36 years and have never seen an issue with Wix. I use them on my bike also, get them from O'Reilly's

This is my preference!!!! Pushed away from the Chrome filters. Thinking about permanent filter, not sure if I'm disciplined enough.
