Doesn't seem right.
Hey all, This didn't seem to fit in any one sub-forum. When I apply my rear brake (12 FLTRX - 8500 miles), I feel a distinct "clunking", almost like a loose suspension part. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It doesn't feel like a scraping or pulsing but more like a clunking you would feel on an old rattle trap car suspension when hitting bumps except this happens when the road is smooth as well.

Have you checked the brake caliber and rotor? If this only happens when applying the brake I would start there.

I had a similar problem, took it to the dealer under warranty, it had something to do with the ABS, I forgot what exactly it was. It didn't happen until they replaced my rear brake switch after a recall.

Thanls Bandit, I did - took the bags off & put it on the lift so the rear could spin freely. I checked the rotor, calipers, pads and shocks & nothing seems amiss / loose. I also put in gear while running and applied the rear brake & the only "clunking" was due to lugging the motor. I'll have my 10k service soon & will have the dealer check but was concerned it might be something needing sooner attention.

Thanks Big G. I'll be having new tires put on at the 10K service, hoping they can square whatever it is away when they reinstall...

Just an update - I aired my (stock) shocks to 40 PSI and took a ride yesterday with my wife. Didn't notice any "clunking". Hopefully that's all it was.
