I have some 3/4 cut jackets that work just fine but anything longer and you are asking for trouble (like some other folks have posted).

I have a black leather duster that someone gave me, I have never worn it on or off the bike. One they are just not my thing and two it weighs about 600lbs. Mine has those straps for the lower legs but I can't see that being safe with the fact that if it does catch on something off you go.
