"So, I am leaning towards the ventilator and K&N filter upgrade (they always have to have an upsell.)"

The Ventilator came stock on my '09SERG, The K&N is definitly a worthwile upgrade!

The Heavy Breather looks more like "marketing" to me

[QUOTE=cadtools;390085]Well, picked up the bike last Saturday, rode it a bit and the only problem I am having (other than the fact that keeping it under 3500 RPM ishelping me "develop patience") is that my choice of air filters did not work from a right leg clearance standpoint. The SE "Pro" air filter 29515-08 sticks a bit further out on the right than I would like, especially with a cover. So, I did a bit more of a study on my alternatives and found the following flow rates at 1.5" water posted on the K&N web site. Results for the heavy breather were surprisingly low, as the ventilator was surprisingly high.... I will be installing the ventilator (version for 58mm throttle body) as soon as it gets here.

Below are the web links to the K&N performance curves. I shall not editorialize other than saying that I will be installing a ventilator, and taking direct measurements of the filters soonest to correlate flow rate rations to area ratios just for the heck of it.

I have a dyno that shows just the opposite, The SE Heavy Breather for the 58mm TB vs the SE Ventilator 58mm. With my setup I got 99hp with the Ventilator, changed and finished tuned I ended up with 117hp so I would say to U that test that U talk about doesn't match up with the SE specs....OH it isn't a Heavy Breather,, it is a cheap copy???

There are atleast 3 Harley 103" Stage IV's that I have seen offered in the last couple years or so. The Pro Race Kit Stage IV is what I was sold and it is no way street legal, it is however faster than any touring bike I have ever ridden or that I have run across. My kit actually came with an AIM clutch, forged pistons, CNC 110 heads with 2.080 intake Valves, 58mmTB, injectors, and I had to add the Heavy Breather when tuning from canned map. I also had a tuner, which they credited me for the one in the Kit...

Well mine was a disaster. As the dealer was taking it down we had metal floting so here comes a new crank case. Then there was a discovery of metal in trans. Everthing in pieces. They start the build. No problem until they start it my god the valve noise is almost deafening. So now new lifters are ordered 10 days later they arrive same noise runs great just loud.
This goes on and on. So what I have is 10 1/2 -1 pistons a 255 se cam and ported heads with no noise and a couple of thousand less. I feel bad for the dealership. But it was mother harley that put them there.

Default Stage 4 part Next

Well, with a little over 500 break in miles (the weather has sucked here in the pacific NW the last couple weeks; only about 2 or 3 tolerably good riding days, was at work for 1 of them) it is running Great. I notice HD changed the stage 4 to the 259 cam; it is the only one I have ridden and thus have no seat of the pants comparison but it sure seems to work well! No lifter/cam noise, but maybe the VH pro pipe (chrome, regular baffle) is drowning that out. Only other noise I hear is a just a little whine from the gearbox in 1st gear, 2 --> 6 quiet gearbox.
Still awaiting my 58mm TB version ventilator AC to come in, but all seems well so far.
Will post pix Real Soon Now in the new bike build picture area; was waiting to get the ventilator installed to get the pix in. Dyno charts in a few more weeks if mileage continues to add as it has so far, 1000 mile dyno timing planned.

I just finished my 500 mile break in with the stage 4 kit (street legal version). Running with a ventilator, SE injectors, V&H monster rounds and power duals. Also opted for new AL cam plate with high flow oil pump.
Haven't had it dyno'd yet but its night and day over stock. Throttle response is great. It really goes when the throttle is hit. Really have to hold on.
I don't coincided myself a motorhead (still have lots to learn) but I am very pleased with the upgrade. The sound is nice and deep. Can still here the radio on the high way. And the power is great...
