I'm sure it could be routed under the dash too.

I installed mine yesterday and followed the provided directions. I have a full tank of gas and still removed the gas tank w/ no issues. In the end, a very neat install if you follow the directions...

I bought just the wire because I already had a RAM mount,also I ran mine underneath the tank console and it fit just fine. I could not be happier. These guys are top notch to do business with.
