That's the only way to describe how I felt a couple of hours ago as I drove away from the dealership on my new BBP RGC. Wow! What a bike.
It was very early this year when I started thinking about a bigger bike. Loved my Dyna class Fat Bob--which was the biggest bike I had ever had. But I also started thinking about doing road trips, and Fat Bob wasn't going to cut it. Previously, I never had the time, or the inclination, or a really suitable bike for road trips. Had never been more than a few hours away from home on any bike. But I'm mostly retired now so I have the time, and the inclination smoldered at first and then burst into flames.
This Spring a dealer let me test-ride a 2010 RG they had for sale. You know, an "escorted" ride of maybe 3 or 4 miles on city streets. Not much, but it beat a blank. And it solidified my desire for a RG. Didn't even look at much less ride a batwing--just don't care for that styling.
In July I discovered this forum and have been an avid follower. You guys are great and I have learned a lot from all of you. And there are some folks on this forum that are quite talented.
From info I have picked up I already have my saddlebag locks, Sanchos wings, Magnificient Cup Holder, and service manual. I believe I will stay with the stock bars for the time being. And if I end up buying a windshield it will be a Madstad--they do kind of grow on you after a while.
Only made about 30 or so miles today as the temps were dropping and the light was fading. But it amazes me how well balanced and easy to control the RG is at very slow speeds. And the footboards. Wow! I love them. Never had anything but pegs and I'm spoiled in just 30 miles. The heel shifter will remain, I think I will really like it with a little more use.
Come Spring I think I will be a frequent visitor to NC for all the scenic riding areas. Surfing the Internet and posts by forum members have convinced me that is an area to really explore at length. And MapQuest shows most of the areas I want to see/ride are 5-7 hours from my house. Perfect. Ride down on a Monday or Tuesday and ride back maybe Wednrsday or Thursday. A few days away at a time won't let my part time consulting work suffer.
Dealer completed Stage 1 before I picked up the bike (Rhineheart true duals with 4" Rhineheart slipons) and I also already have a Corbin seat (had Corbins on last 2 Harleys, very pleased with Corbins).
