Heated Seat Question

For those of you using the HD Heated Seats, how long should it take for the seat to actually heat up to where you can really tell it is working?

I am looking at possibly purchasing a used heated seat from a CVO model and I can tell it is starting to heat up with the bike running in a few minutes but it does not seem to get all that warm. Does it take a while before you can feel the warmth or am I possibly looking at a seat with heating element issues?

Mine likes to roast the boys within about 8 minutes on high and that's riding below 50*. I can tolerate it on low after that for about another 10 minutes and then I'm turning it off. My wife on the other hand can ride with that damn thing on all day it seems.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got a chance to try it out a little longer and it never got more than slightly warm. Must be on its way out. Good thing I got a chance to try before buy

Just curious on how it was wired to your bike. With mine being a CVO it's factory that way. I've read a lot where people have added them and powered them through the acc switch. I wonder if the voltage is different through that switch although I don't really understand how it could be.

The accessory port is the same voltage as wiring something direct to the battery. The heated seat I have came with a factory style connector that plugs directly into the accessory port.

Post toasty in about 10 minutes thru acc. Switch. I have the Sunray model. It adds about 2" to the height of the custom seat.

I kept the heated seat from my previous bike (08 CVO Ultra). The element finally went out this past Oct. I wound up replacing it myself. Was a pretty easly job and the replacment was same brand as what Harley had on there and preforms just as well. Gets quite toasty!
