Wow, after reading some of these stories I am going to add a few more items to my travel tool kit! The only inconvience I had was my key fob battery died on me when we stopped at Clinton HD. Went inside to get a new battery and they didnt have any. So I took the wifes bike over to Target across the street and bought two batteries. I now keep a spare on the bike. I probably saved some cash going over to Target anyway!

I will say Kentucky roads are pretty good for the most part. Our problem is we have an ungodly amount of tractors and other heavy equipment tearing our already shitty roads to pieces...

Lost one bolt from my Dragula end cap. Bike ran great! My feet were the major casualty! Face

Trust me the motor company knows, they read these forums & the good & the bad ARE known to them, now getting managment to change things at those locations is another matter. Thanks for the warning about this dealer.

Out came the tools and after some trial and error, I sorta hot wired the compressor and got it back up where I wanted it. No showing off the air ride for Shark Week I guess. Then, on Thursday, I was traveling with RufusBarkley (Bill Perez) from Atlanta to NOLA and was within 5 miles of the hotel when my clutch lever collapsed in my hand in stop and go traffic. We were pinned by heavy traffic on the left side of 3 lanes against a concrete barrier. NO WHERE to go, 3 cops passed us without a second glance and finally one stopped traffic so we could move to the right side shoulder and hopefully not get killed. For the next couple of hours we tried with little success to get off the road. HOGs road side assistance failed me miserably by eventually telling me their contracted tow company had no straps to tie me down and would NOT be coming to pick me up. I contacted the New Orleans H-D shop that also didn't want to help but eventually agreed to pick me up. Then the rain came. OH JOY. A few minutes later a nice guy in a pickup stopped and offered sanctuary in his pickup until we were picked up. All this time I'm trying to get things set up to fix my bike once we arrived at the H-D shop. They flatly refused to even try to work me in that day, and said the next day may not happen either. They were backed up. BooHoo!!! (I thought Harleys policy was that travelers were taken to the top of the list and fixed so they could get back on the road.....No so in this case.) Anyway, the parts counter had what I needed, so I fixed it myself in the parking lot. Not without the assistance of my fellow traveler RufusBarkley, and a little well timed advice from the one ray of sunshine at the dealership. A mechanic took a few minutes of his time and steered us in the right direction when what was broke didn't really look broke. Anyway, 5 hours later we arrived at our destination to the cheers of our own welcoming committee. Add to that a dead key fob battery later in the week, and the loss of BOTH screws holding the front fender spacer to the lower leg, while heading home Friday. Long story I guess, but so was my week of seemingly constant repairs. Oh yeah, some time during the week I pulled the fairing to fix a short in the the LED trim rings I had installed. Never found a problem but they never flickered anymore either. Tools came out more during Shark Week than they had before I left home. A few others needed tools during the week for one reason or the other, so I was very glad I had them. These http://www.storagepouches.com/product.html work great, fit into the recesses of your saddlebags, and hold a ton of stuff. I don't leave home without them.
I think that the hydraulic clutch is one of the best mods you can do. I did it to my 01 low rider and my 09serg has one. No adjustment and no worries. I left cables on the past and never looked back! JM2C. Face out!

No real damage for me, other then stuff coming loose because of all the smooth roads. Iowa and Oklahoma have a lot in common,.. they haven't been told you an actually resurface your roads every few years.
Chainsaw - there i sno doubt that Iowa has the worst drivers in the nation. My ids both went to college out in the QUAD SHITTIES. IOWA is full drivers that you can count on to do the wrong thing!
