I know I said "last post" earlier, but I had to share this.
We sent Shef off in style yesterday. Augusta Harley Davidson closed two hours early and hosted a memorial ride and celebration of life service. We took a 30 minute loop ride, with the lead bike carrying Shef's ashes for one last ride. There were 225-250 bikes in the parade. Then we came back to the dealership where a memorial service was held. Probably close to 300 in attendance. They cleared the showroom and set up chairs. The Patriot Guard Riders had a flag line around the room. A military honor guard conducted a flag folding ceremony and offered a 21 gun salute, accompanied by "Taps." It was beautiful. His brother spoke of how he lived his life by using one of the many dealership poker chips Shef had collected as a prop. He said Shef never did anything half way. He was always "all in." A biker pastor offered scripture and reminded us all that life is fleeting and we need to consider where we'll spend eternity, and to be prepared for the end, because it could come at any time for any one of us. After the ceremony, Moe's Southwest Grill, Shef's favorite restaurant, donated food for the gathering. No one left hungry. All in all, a very fitting send off for a great guy.
