Question on Lowers

Have a chance to get a set for the Glide. Question is that these are an older set and while they do have the old cut out type space for engine airflow they are not vented, will these stop so much airflow that that they will have to be removed after winter or do the older style still allow enough airflow to be comfortable?

They do reduce the amount of air that travels around the engine in the summer and make it a little hotter. If nothing else,.. get them and give it a shot and find out. Some guys say that vented blocks to much and take them off in the summer. I leave mine on year round,.. and have used non vented and they stayed on year round.
Its one of those things that might work for you,.. might not... kinda like windshields.

Actually........ lowers force more air to the engine and have been proven to lower oil temps and add to cooling. However, less air is available for the rider and they tend to keep hot air around the rider while stopped.

I would love to believe that's true, and haven't taken my lowers off yet. But I am also a skeptic; where/how/who has shown it to been proven that lowers "reduce oil temp and add to cooling"? Not trying to be difficult, but I have considered getting the quick disconnect for the lowers on my 2011 RGU for next summer (where here in SoCal it gets pretty hot). If there is verified research/data that shows my lowers are a benefit, I'll definitely leave them on 365.
