Would you guys running 412s say that you glide smoothly over harsh bumps or does it still feel pretty harsh. Any bottoming out with shorter length?? Thinking about a set of 12" for my Ultra but don't wanna lose the ride quality. May still go with the HD premiums or 940/944s.

More firm than stock but not harsh. Id imagine the more expensive progressives would be better. If a cushy ride is top priority to you save your money and buy atleast the 440s

Not really looking for a cushy Cadillac ride. Just don't want that jarring, back-breaking, teeth rattling feeling I would get when hitting bigger bumps or crossing crappy railroad crossings on my SG.

I'd say that the spring rate (standard or HD) would be more important than the type/model of the shock. Like I said before, I had the 412's on the RK and they were fine and I have the 440's on the RG but since it's heavier than the RK , I needed to get the HD springs.

Got home from work last night and my shocks were sitting on the front porch. Installed them this morning. Now just waiting for the ice and snow to go away so I can ride.

Well the weather cooperated and I got to go for about a 30 mile ride today, started raining so I headed home. Anyway I got to try out my new Progressive shocks, They work great. Much better ride than the air shocks and felt better in the corners. I would say that it was a good reasonably priced upgrade for the bike.
