Default SG bars VS RG bars..........

Ok, so I guess everything happens for a reason. In my delay with the clutch line for my bike, I got to looking at my 14" Outlawz more and they just didn't seem high enough for me. Had my wife take a picture and sure enough, they're not even close to putting my hands level with my shoulders.

When I sat on my buddies SG with the 14" Chubby apes, my hands were above my shoulders slightly, are the risers on the SG really higher up from the ground than on the RG/RK?

If not then how could there be this much of a difference?

Now I'm thinking 16" bars minimum, but maybe even 18's.......

To complicate things even more, the tallest Outlawz Wild 1 makes are the ones I have in 14" height.

I would just shop around for another bar that meets your height requirement. There was a custom builder that seemed reasonable in a recent thread, that just might be your ticket. I can't remember the company name, but it's not BR Customs, this guy came up when BR was taking so long delivering finished products. I would definitly NOT put the batwing style bars on... They just look wrong to me.
Good luck with your search.

Thanks I think you're referring to Vindikta which Nozzleman used for his bars.

They make a 16" Chubby Ape version for the Road glides so that's why I was considering that.

I just really didn't think there was such a difference between bars from a SG to a RG, I understand the different bend for the fairing, but it's the same frame, and height is height.......

Yep, that's the guy I was talking about... It is wierd, and you would think height is height, but there is big difference in the bend for the batwings. Hell I don't know I am just guessing. I know some folks have used them for the pull back. There was a set on a RG here at the local stealership, and my first thought was WOW someone put the wrong bars on, that sucks. But then I thought it was one of the yahoo's from the shop that made the call. Turns out it came in that way on trade.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the batwing bars on the RG/RK bikes either, looks very out of place.........

I had a set of 16 inch bars on my SG, I'm not sure how they measure them but they are not the same as straight bars.
I just ordered a set of 18's for my rg from hill country customs pre-wired, they are supposed to be here monday. Can't wait!

Congrats, post some pics when you're done.

I ordered a set of 16" Chubby Apes for my bike, will try them out when they get here.

The 14" Outlawz were way too short for what I was looking for, I thought they would be much taller.

I almost went 18" but I think at 5'11" the 18's would have been too tall......

I couldn't remember how tall his bars were. Looks like he has a seat that sits him higher than mine though.

We'll see how the 16's work out.
