I won the two piece set at Shark Week. Very happy with it. Just before Shark week I purchased the door trim from Auto Zone that guys on the forum have talked about. I used it for the top and the X trim for the sides. Both types seem to work very well. I don't understand why HD doesn't fix these simple little things like this. The stuff they use has always been garbage.
I have to say that I was impressed with the x-trim when I installed it but changing it onto a different windshield the damn thing is just as bad as the factory rubber. Not only that but I've been trying to reach him about some other items and this and he doesn't call anyone back at all.
I originally bought the 3 pieces but it wouldn't fit a clearview windshield, so I used the 3 pieces for the fairing...worked great except for the seams at the top. I called the guy up and he sent me 1 piece long enough to use on the fairing...works much better, I installed it from crash bar mount all the way around to the other crash bar mount. I am really happy with the X-trim
I'd be interested in replacing the stock fairing trim. Mine likes to peel off on the edges. Do you have to remove the stock crap? Or do you simply cover it up, which would surprise me.
You take the old factory trim off. When I did mine I left the sticky glue stuff on it and layed the new right on top, because cleaning it off would just smeared it and make a mess. Then the new may not stick very well.
The difficult part for me was not freaking out as I took the fairing off with the guidance of my husband
funny mines been on 3 sheilds now no problem!! great product!!
