I can't compare mine to other backrests since I am only familiar with the HD adjustable backrest and wouldn't bother looking for another. Adjustable (forward and back) while in the saddle and riding. Adjustable up and down and easily removable with a single spring loaded lever. How could it be any better.

I just ordered the HD adjustable backrest. I can't wait to see what a difference that is going to make on my longer rides.

I'm in the same situation. I'm gonna get a mustang seat soon and some type of backrest. The Harley one is nice cause of the pocket for passenger. Can't find a pocket on the mustang ones

Any backrest is better than not having one. No matter your choice it will definitely be an improvement. I just went with the HD and it's been a great purchase.

Mustang Solo Seat for my Road Glide backrest that folds down. The fold down backrest helps getting on and off the bike. For my Deuce I have a Corbon Solo with backrest. The Corbon is the better seat for the Deuce, and the Mustang the better seat for the Road Glide. My Corbon Solow backrest does not fold down, though it is easily removed.
When my wife rides with me 2-up, I have the big Mustang passenger pillion with Big HD sissy bar back pad and luggage rack; takes less than a minute to put on. When riding slow, I remove the passenger pillion and pad, and instead have a low fender rack for looks and possibly some carrying capacity if needed.

+1, I can't use mine anymore 2up because the pad pushes her legs too far out giving her back pain. So I lean back on her now .

The Mustang backrest is attached to the seat. AFAIK, it's mounting system is not transferable to other designs or manufacturers. Likewise, the Corbon has its own mounting system. However, unlike the Mustang, the Corbon mounting system is the same for all their backrest capable saddles. Before my RG, my Duce was for both solo and two up. My rider's backrest worked on both my Corbon Solo and my big Corbon dual touring saddle. And my wife's backrest worked on both her Corbon close seat on her Dyna and as her passenger back rest on the Corbon Dual Touring. After the purchase of my Road Glide, I have not mounted the Corbon Dual Touring on my Deuce, nor has my wife needed to use her Corbon backrest on another bike.
Since '08 and later FL seats are different than prior to '08, then if you have say an '02 and might change to an '08, then you could save a few dollars on backrest with a Corbon. Or you could sell your saddle on eBay.
