PS: bgillam, I haven't had enough of a chance to figure out what my MPG has done. And now I won't until spring as there is snow in the forecast.

Heads depending who you go with will run $350+ not including labor. A set of cams, with pushrods depending on brand will be another $550 more or less without labor, if you change lifters about another $150 in parts, do you see what I'm saying. You can get a great running 103 or 107 economically, but your first post states that you will be doing a 124 In a couple of years. Well if you don't do anything to your 103 and just sell it, you're almost halfway to your 124. If you are after that much power just properly build your 103 and slap a pro charger on it and have fun kicking sport bike butt.
You don't "have" to do anything but if you have an end goal in mind already, then it makes no sense to do stuff along the way that will delay the end goal.
Just my $0.02
