UPDATE:

Rode to work this morning up I95 towards DC, there are bad dips and construction...I cant get over the change...funny but the ride is so different it changes the way my seat feels...stability through the corners is amazing...

convinced that this should have been the first thing I should have done after buying the bike...Shocks, then look for the seat/handelbar/windshield setup...ugh!!

The bike has been down for a week and still have a week before I get them back. Tossed out the old shocks (dumb) when I installed the 40s. I also weigh 175 so I'm hopeing they aren't still too stiff. I have a set of drop ins for the forks waiting to install after the shocks get on and looking forward to doing the Dragon in July.

May not be a lot of help to some, but I went on a ride yesterday ( 390 miles) and these 940's were amazing. I weigh 190 and I just have the springs that came with the shocks. While I'm riding I keep the shocks just like they come from the factory, no turns. What a nice ride. So nice not to have to keep adjusting the air. I wish I had the money right now for monotubes.

I switched to the 940s on my RGU. I did it to lower it an inch.
They did just that they lowered it right where I needed it. I have now put 4000 miles on the 940's unlike those the rave about I find little to know difference in the ride. Wife and I played with the adjustments on a 3K trip just no real difference but the lowering was a big help.
I have about 27K on the bike so I do know how it rides .

Thats amazing to me..I've read your reply /report on a bunch of threads...you must have the touch with the air shocks, because to me they were pogosticks and crazy unstable around corners...or your riding nice roads!!..lol..

I ride in Montana and Idaho some of the twistiest roads in the country (I ive right near hwy 12 Lolo pass etc. and that road is not nearly as twisty as many) and the roads are in crap shape all the time. I actually like the ride and the handling of the air shocks compared to the 940's. never had a pogo stick or unstable ride with the stock but the 940's are not nearly as good as my 440's were on my last bike.

I installed 940s last Thursday and could not be more pleased. I am 260 and ride two up most of the time with tour pak and full gear. The ride has improved so much I can take roads I wouldn't before because I would always bottom out.
I put them on, set them to the second notch and haven't changed them yet. 600 miles and very happy. I ordered them Monday from HPD and had them Thursday. Monotubes are next.
When I laid one of the air shocks on the bench there was some oil that came out of the air tube. Is that normal or did I have a bad shock all along?

I think ride weight is a big factor with the 940's. I am ~175 lb and I do not think they are designed well for lighter riders even with the lighter springs.
