My first headset was on my 08 ultra classic. It worked great to me, now have the 11 RGU and the same headset did not work right. Someone told me the later modles have changed connections so I installed the new headset that came with the bike. Still get sound from one ear at times. Noticed the other day that when I accelatrate the sound goes to one ear only, if I just cruise normal it seems to work ok. I must have some kind of setting off on the radio but can;t figgure out wich one it is.

In our experience when that happens it's usually because the plug where the cord plugs into the "helmet" section isn't quite seated properly. It doesn't take much "looseness" to have it drop a speaker (or the intercom section).

I sort of use it. I snipped the speaker wires but use the mic to communicate. I monitor the cb through the stereo speakers.

I wear a half helmet and bout a behind your head headpone/mic from vinnietracy.com off ebay. They use a set of Logitech headphones fitted with the Harley plug. They were under $40 bucks.
They don't sound bad for the money but still not a lot of bass response. You can hear them at 80mph with a head wind so not too bad.
I'm still searching for a better pair but these will do for now

I have 3 sets, OEM still in the box (used the one from my 06' and hated the way it clamped onto the helmet and they kinda sucked), I have a 3/4 hjc w/ j&m built in and it sounds and feels great ( I use it only in the winter and on long runs with my wife) last but least over the ear headset which I use with my 1/2 helmet and I don't remember the brand but I'll take a pic of the package for all to see but I think its the company that makes it for HD, except mine are silver and HD is black but everything is the same.

Thanks for the replys!

Getting too close to leaving so I will have to make the stock headset work for now!

I will try to get the ear pieces as well located as possible and figure out the mono thing.

Good luck Jupiter. Unless you have a sloppy fit on that helmet, the earphones are likely to raise heck with your ears. (yes that is the voice of experience)
