Concur but from a different perspective - retired Systems Engineer, space industry, and began my career as a Radar Engineer.
Even at X-Band, the reflector is just too small to create a beam that's narrow enough to isolate individual vehicles (more like a headlight - measurable spill). Therefore, it makes sense that the Radar will report the speed of whichever vehicle that's in the beam and is going the fastest. The operator (in this case, an LEO) is stuck deciding which vehicle was the actual culprit.
Laser is much more precise since it has an extremely narrow beam (a tiny dot instead - almost no spill).
Bottom line:
You got lucky.
