Default Road King Conversion

I will be converting my 2006 Road King into a Road Glide. Any advise from members who have done this conversion before or pics of converted Road Kings would be very useful.

you've got 2 routes you can go. previously, if you wanted to do this, you had to go in all hog, new fairing (obviously), a new fuel tank, and a couple of new wiring harnesses.

my suggestion today would be to go with the look of the new cvo models. that way you won't have to replace the fuel tank, and you'd get a kick ass stereo as well.

good luck with the conversion, and like always,

we want to see pics

document the whole process...... someone else may want to do this as well.

I know there was a guy that did that with a police road king. He actually won bike of the month. Look in the bike of the month section and you should be able to find it. He had pictures and stuff.

I'm just about finished with an Electra Glide Ultra to Road Glide conversion. I think the Road King conversion might be a bit more challenging.
I had to lengthen two jacks on the fairing harness but at least I had a harness, stereo, and all the bar controls to start with. I've spent about $1200 so far and still need paint. I'm sure it can be done.
A guy on the hdforums.com had a good thread on converting his Police Electra Glide. I'd suggest doing a search there for the thread and see what you might be getting into.

Good Luck, RT

The first thing that you would need to decide is what Fairing mounts you want to use. The two types are the '09/earlier and '10/later mounts.

The difference is the ones used '10/later can use the Electra Glide Vented Lowers.
The '09/earlier cant. You must use the Lowers specifically made for FLTR models.

well I tried but you have to be a member to look, I already belong to more forums than I can keep up with. It would be nice if when you start a thread you don't abandon it midstream.

Just saying......guy went from a road king to this.....notice the road king tank ....

Than to this.....

If I was interested in converting a road king to a road glide, I would take the steps to join a forum to find a guy that already did what I want to do, so I could ask some questions........not that I know anything, it's just my $.02 and after all it's your project, not mine. Just tried to point you in the right direction, but good luck!!

And I don't think (not sure) you have to be a member to view over there, I believe that is bagger tech (or what ever its called) not sure what was ment with the abandoning a thread half way through........

I appreciate you posting and nothing against you, I was curious as to how difficult it was to do but the one in these pictures is not my style. I already belong to a couple of Harley forums and should be able to find something there. Thanks again

I did hit the link for the other forum and was told I needed to be a member to view them. What I meant was the guy started a thread with questions about a conversion, got a few replies and is not heard from again. At least say thanks.
