Default Headlight bulb upgrade

I was wanting to run a higher wattage bulbs in my 2010RG and most people at the dealers told me that the biggest problem is the harness getting too hot and ruining it. Well I found this:

What do you guys think?? Has anyone increased their wattage from the stock 55/60 to say 90/100 without any problems? Or have you had problems? I was going with plasma glow lights which carry a 10 year warranty..

I run 90/100 in both my FXST and FLHRCI...and yes, I have replaced the socket due to melting...but no problems since. Bulbs in my RGC are still stock but looking at replacing them soon. Thanks for providing the link!

If youre lookin to see further down the road than your front fender adjust the stock bulbs up alil. youll be amazed with the diffrence. And its free. They come adjusted very low and dont do much for seeing at night. Its simple to adjust them and if youre still not happy then simply adjust them back and spend the money on the brighter bulbs

Ditto on adjustment- mine were aimed way low. Cranked them up and I see great!

If brighter light without melting wires is what you want, you might consider an HID system. My setup was about $100 complete, draws much less current than stock or Silverlight bulbs, and has held up over 30,000 miles - including the worst imaginable terrain on my Alaska trip. There are several threads on HID setups. LED headlights are another option, but they're prohibitively expensive right now.

Thumbs up

I swapped mine with the Philips Xtreme Vision range. 100% brighter light output than normal halogen bulbs BUT able to use existing harness as there is no change in current draw. They also sell a hardened anti vibration version suitable for motorbike use.
Liked these so much, swapped out the car as well.
Bulbs are more expensive but still cheaper than HID and getting the extra harness.

Coolblue, I bought the DDM Tuning kit. I love em! I put over 20,000 miles on mine. No problems. I got the dual bulb 55W set-up, Which costs $10.00 more. The cost was around $50.00 because I deciced to go high beam HID instead of Halogen. 6000K. Very Nice you won't be disappointed.
