Kentucky Route 22..MAN what a trip!!

Early Easter Sunday, a glorious spring day in the Bluegrass, we decided to ride the entire length or Ky. 22 thinking passing through a place called Bethlehem (Ky.) on Easter would be a good thing. Now I've rode parts of 22 many times since it starts in Louisville and knew how tasty the road was with about every kind of curve you can think of all the way to Dry Ridge. I, however, had never been east on 22 east of Williamstown....

Holy sh%t what a ride, miles of switchbacks, the road going up and down through the northern Kentucky hills. A lot of places you could see well enough through the corners you could take as much of the road as you needed. The road kept getting better and better till it ended in Willow. Saw few Harleys but an abundance of sport bikes. At the intersection of 22 and 10 there is an old school house and there were about 50 sport bikes gathered there. Don't know what was going on there or just their hangout but we went east 20 miles to Maysville.

From there we took 68 through horse country. I've always loved that road. Nothing special riding wise, just some hills, but the Thoroughbred horse farms between especially Paris and Lexington makes some of the prettiest riding in Kentucky. The stone walls that line the road in places from the 1800's, beautiful.

Wanting to spend some time with our family on Easter we slabbed it back to Louisville from Lexington. About a 300 mile loop. As we busted down I-64 not a cloud in the sky and surrounded by the lush green of early spring and past more horse farms it reminded me just how lucky I am to live near some of the best riding anywhere, riding people travel hundreds of miles to find is right here.

If you ever get the chance, check out Kentucky 22, you won't regret it!

That sounds like a nice ride, a lot like OH 555. I'll have to check it out.

Be careful, STUPID doesn’t care what direction it comes at you from!!!

I dared not start mine on easter.

since I mostly work in the sticks, I know what you are saying, a ton of federal money went towards repaving some of the best Ky twisties.

I like 84 myself.

If you're ever near Bluegrass Airport, ring me up, I only live about 2 miles away.

and 227 aint bad neither.

We are blessed with a wealth of great scenic roads in Central Kentucky.

Frankie and I, along with our friend did this ride yesterday! WOW is all I can say. It was a blast!!! Im calling it The Lizard...a smaller version of The Dragon....lol
Tons of sport bikes out riding this road.

I jokingly called us the Geezer Glide gang. I was on the RGU, Frankie on the trike and our friend Dennis on the EGUC.

Thanks Quicksand for the recommendation. Its definitely a ride we will do over & over. Total ride for us was a tad over 500 miles.

Some of you may remember this video that was posted a while back. This video was shot there.

Yes it is an incredible piece of road Tracy. My buddy has rode the stretch between Louisville and Dry Ridge with me on his trike as well but he bought a Fat Bob so we took it out on it's maiden voyage on 22. He scraped quite a bit when we got east of Williamstown but he had the time of his life.

He still has the trike and loves it for the open road but for the twisties its quite a handful....he's good and can get down the road pretty good but it looks like a lot of work to me.

Ya'll give me a holler and I'll chase you guys across there sometime.

Wow, if I had seen that video before, I didn't remember it. That is just crazy. I was confused though, what the hell possessed them to stop. Second rider couldn't get past the deuce bag in the truck?
