Lake Superior trip

I will finish work in Marquette MI on a Thursday and thinking about circling Lake Superior. Leave Marquette early Friday morning (7:00 est) Head to Ashland, then Duluth and hope to make it to Thunder bay Friday night. Is that doable? I have nithing to see between Marquette and Duluth. Waht are the Must see places along Hwy 61 between Duluth and Thunder Bay. What is there to see between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie? Is that a one day trip? I am good for 300 to 400 miles per day.

This is a great ride! The stops you have are About 450 miles each day. Ten miles north of Ironwood MI. Is a ski flying hill (copper peak .org) It sways lightly on windy days. some people won't go all the way up. Folks hang on to the railings and move about slowly. It opens mid June but still take the drive and look at it in person, it might get you to come back for fall colors. Ashland Wi. has Northern Great Lake Visitor Center, 5 story observation deck, Its ok if you need a break. North shore hwy 61 Friday afternoon will have a lot of north bound traffic and deer around dark. Grand Marais is a nice stop with sea gulls and sailboats it is also your last stop for lodging before Thunder Bay so plan your sunlight acordingly. The top of the lake as well as the east side where the road meets the lake has a raw majestic beauty that changes with every bend in the road and will burn into your memory which can result into an annual run.
