Maine Madness - Leg 1

Hi I have a few buddies that are doing a ride from Ca to Maine, down the coast and back to California. We have three legs Leg 1 starts July 13th - July 19th from West Sacramento CA to Milwaukee WI. This is leg 1 because it's all solo we're picking up the wives in Milwaukee where we start leg 2.

I have a few requirements, trying to keep the day close to 400 miles, I have one person that wants to see Craters of the Moon in Idaho, I'd like to ride the Bear Tooth Highway/Chief Joseph Byway, one person wants to hit Sturgis (pre ralley) and of course Le Claire IA. We need to be in Milwakuee Thursday to pick-up the wives. Wondering if folks familiar with the area could weigh in to the route I've got. Understand I can't make every amazing road but if there's a better road then the one I am taking I'd love to know. URL is off Googlemaps below.

Thanks for looking!

I did a CA to Maine and back run last year, and I see some overlaps on some of the sections that I ran or have been on before. If your buddy is really intent on seeing Craters of the Moon, so be it, but IMO, the ride from Elko to Idaho Falls is about as boring as Amish porn. Fuel up at any opportunity you get. It's a pretty good (and dull) hike from the INL lab to Idaho Falls, and there are no fuel stops along the way.

The run from Yellowstone to Cody will be spectacular. If you happen across a gal named Amber in the Yellowstone area who begs for a ride, run! As fast as you can! (I'll fill you in on that story when we run across each other in Le Claire). You'll have a ball on this trip. Be sure to keep us updated.

What if the Hokey-Pokey really is what it's all about?

Amish porn....that's funny! Thanks for the info and I'll watch out for Amber.
