my wife mentioned that she wants to take a trip somewhere on the bike (rgc). so i put my thinking cap on trying to think of where we can go that would be a good distance and nice to see once there. we live in northern virginia and i came up with niagra falls. 400 or so miles, so a full day on the bike with stops, sounds perfect. she likes the desination also.
the most she's ridden so far is 100 mile fun rides with a lunch stop. so about 3-4 hours on the bike including the lunch stop. i've told her that a 400 mile ride is a little different and there is an endurance factor to rides that long. she told me she pushed two kids out of her with no drugs so she thinks she can handle 8-9 hours on a bike.
i am 50 yrs old and she is 40something and we both are in good shape. what i have, 2011 RGC with detachable king size tour pack and a 2010 roadking seat (which she likes very much) because the passenger portion of the stock RGC seat is lacking. she has no complaints about the wind and is totally comfortable on these fun rides.
im going to get her all the basics like rain gear, at least a 3/4 helmet with a face shield (she only has a 1/2 helmet now), cool dry weather riding gear, (she needs chaps and better gloves).
i'm needing some help. could you guys ask your wives/girlfriends that passenger with you to post advice on this thread on what she needs to make this ride a success so she will want to do it again? i'm trying to come up with everything i can think of to make it the best but i'm a rider and a guy not a passenger and female so there may be things i dont even think of.
you men can post also if you know what your ladies have wished for or not needed afterall.
this is what we will be on. notice the tour pack on the fridge and the back end of the roadking seat on the cushion on the left side of the photo (the seat with the studs on it). thanks for any help you can give us. i really want this to work out because i want to do it a lot more with her.
