Reno to Sonoma aka Infineon Raceway?

My wife ,2 daughters and I are going to the Sonoma Nationals ( NHRA) at the end of the month and would like to get some info . Sorry to say we will be driving the SUV because of my daughters work commitments. My question is from Reno can I just take #20 over then drop down and come into Sonoma that way to miss the interstate traffic ? What a good route to take ?
Thanks, Thistle

In a cage it's going to be traffic intensive no matter which way you go, I would go on down 80 from Reno until just after you pass Cordelia, CA, Take 12 West towards Napa, CA and then take 121 South to Infineon Raceway.

It adds about 7 miles, but you will bypass a portion of the traffic on highway 37 from Valleo, CA to the raceway. That's where it is usually the worst. It would be better if you could ride, but in a cage, it's probably you best bet. At least from my experience. Others may have a different plan.
