Best thing I could suggest is to go the bourbon trail website kybourbontrail.com and check the hours of operation for all 6 distilleries. Some are located fairly close to each other but a few arent. Its all going to depend on what days your travelling and from what direction your coming from.

Be sure to get a passport at the first location you visit, have it stamped at all 6, send it in and you'll get a free tshirt.

Like Tracy said, the best place to start is on the Bourbon Trail website. You can do all 6 distilleries on the Bourbon Trail in one day IF you don't take any tours. If you tour the distilleries or just a couple it takes two days because they close kind of early. The distilleries are pretty cool, especially a couple of them, so you probably will want to tour some of them. They all have very cool gift shops and give free samples. There are other distilleries as well that you'll go by not on the trail. Here's a road plan we used last year starting in Louisville....

http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.c...9&locale=en_US

Waypoints on this planner were distilleries. The beginning point of this ride was Bluegrass Harley in Louisville which BTW sells Bourbon Trail t-shirts but coming from South Carolina you'd probably want to start the trail around Versailles before you get to Louisville. It begins in thoroughbred country and its beautiful around there.

If you follow the ride plan and make Jim Beam in Clermont, Ky. your ending point you might want to consider spending the night in nearby Bardstown, Ky. a beautiful little town and the Bourbon Capital of the World!

In Louisville they aren't racing at Churchill Downs right now but you can go to the Museum and look around the track. The Louisville Slugger museum and factory downtown is a nice way to spend a couple hours as well and if the Louisville Bats are in town you can catch a game a few blocks to the east of the museum at Slugger Field. Great fried bologna sandwiches. Another cool part of Louisville is the Highlands (Bardstown Rd. area) Lots of cool shops, bars and restaurants.

There are lots and lots of great roads in Kentucky. I've been wanting too and will soon ride the snake, 421 and it may be a good way for you to come up. The section from Deep Gap, N.C., just off the Blue Ridge Pkwy., to Lexington, Ky. is 300 miles long and word is an amazing ride.

I'm doing this on my way home from Sturgis. Do you have to do the tour of each to get the passport stamped? I would like to do a couple tours, but not necessarily all of them.

You don't have to do any tours to get the passport stamped just get your passport at the first distillery you visit and get it stamped at each one thereafter. We've done all 6 in one day but its a full day thing and we did NO tours.

a really fun way to tour churchill downs is attending the concours d'elegance

this years louisville concourse is oct 5-7

I usually go on sunday morning, see what I need to see and move on.

I like cobras, what can I say?

loretto and makers mark have the best twisties in and out, and noteably the best sauce also. try running 83 if you have the chance

another way point is 205 e main, raywick, ky, bottom up bar and grill, don't hang out too long, but it's near the 83.

some stuff to see, martin castle, woodford-ish county, 3802′48″N 8439′10″W

and actually taking 150 or 127 north could be more interesting also

You might contact Boswells H-D here in Nashville. Their web site is the best way to get to the right person.
They have 3 dealerships in the area and have, by far, the most active HOG Chapters in the area.
I know they posted a ride - route for the bourbon trail a few months ago.

imho, lawrenceburg and lexington may be a complete waste of your time if you are targeting louisville.

send me a PM and I can share my ride planner with a valid email address.
