I just got back from a little road trip last night. I had to go to Rapid City SD to do some business so I loaded up the scoot and left Sunday morning.
The trip started out in Flagstaff, AZ around 7:00 am and it was a little nippy out it was only 35 degrees in the morning and it never did warm up past 55. I ran through some rain in AZ, UT & CO but I made it to Rifle, CO around 7:45 PM.
I left Rifle, CO around 8:00 am and went up through the rest of CO taking I-70, I-76 & I-25 up to Cheyenne WY where I then took WY 85 up to SD where I took SD 85 to I-90. I was running through a lot of rain showers but I made Rapid City around 8:00 pm.
I took care of my business on Tuesday morning and headed out of Rapid City after making a stop at Black Hills HD. I left the HD dealer around 11:30 am and headed out of SD on I-90 up to Gillette, WY where I took WY 50 south to 387 then to 259 where I run into a Hail storm
then I went down I-25 to Casper then I took 220 to 287 and made it to Rawlins WY around 7:00 pm.
Left Rawlins around 8:00 am and headed west down I-80 to WY 789 then headed south to CO where the road turn into CO hwy 13, I headed south down 13 back to rifle CO where I picked up I-70 west into UT where I picked up UT hwy 128 south to 191 then to 163 into AZ where I picked up AZ hwy 160 to 89 and back into Flagstaff, AZ around 9:15 pm.
I took some of the same roads in both directions but I did change up the route some but some of the roads with some outstanding scenery would be Utah hwy 191 through Monument Valley was awesome, 191 up to Moab UT had some areas that had great scenery too and UT hwy 128 out of Moab along the Colorado river was awesome.
In Colorado I-70 has some of the best scenery of any interstate hwy in the lower 48 and CO hwy 13 is outstanding.
I can't say much about the scenery in the parts of WY that I went through, there was some places that the scenery wasn't too bad but I don't think it would be worth going out of my way to see it again.
I didn't see as much of the Black Hill area as I wanted too but SD hwy 85 through Deadwood up to I-90 was awesome, it would probably be better if it wasn't raining and I didn't have deer running out in front of me.
