There's basically 3 centers of activity in terms of where people gather. Weirs Beach - vendors and restaurants. The last 5 miles getting to the Weirs is stop and go all the way if you're there on a weekend. Then head to "The Hill" an area just a handful of miles north of the Weirs and south of Laconia H.D. Lots of vendors, and several very large bars. If it's the bar scene you want, this is where to go. Going a few miles further north is the Laconia HD dealership. Lot's of vendors all over a couple of large parking lots. Beer tent, live music all day long. Traffic can be stop and go for the last mile or two getting here also.

Wed. is a national hill climb series race. Worth seeing if you've never been to a hill climb before. Those guys in the unlimited class are a crayon or two short of a full box! RLAF mentioned Mt Washington - spectacular ride on a sunny or mostly clear day. Another nice ride is to go all the way around the lake. Stop for lunch in one of the lakeside towns, like Wolfeboro.

Hope this helps a little.

If you do go up the hill to Funspot, go a bit further and stop at the Tamarack for a bite. They still have footlong hotdogs and the food is pretty decent. If you take the ride around the lake, look for The Yankee Smokehouse on your way to riding the Kancamaugus, or the Kanc as the locals call it. Up in N Conway NH there is a little brewery/ restaurant called the Moat Mountain Brewery. Good eats and cold beer. You need to ride the Kanc and also Hurricane Mountain Rd.

Those are day rides for us and we always love it. Alton Bay also has some nice scenery along Rt. 11.

As an aside, if you drink, be VERY careful. That seems to be what the cops are looking for if/when they pull you over. Make sure all your lights work and no one has a reason to pull you over, drinking or not.

Be careful and enjoy. Ill be up for the day on Saturday with a few friends.

Crawford Notch (RT 302) is one of my favorite rides. I haven't checked out Hurricane Mountain Rd yet, maybe I'll hit that this year.
