vancouver island----toronto and back in June 2016

I'm in the process of loosely mapping a ride with a friend who is buying a bike in my hometown (Victoria BC) and riding it back to his home (Montreal)

It's not the most direct route, because we obviously just want to ride a bunch, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything super important that 'SHOULD NOT BE MISSED' or anything.

We're figuring 2 weeks to get from Victoria to Toronto, where I'll turn around and come home solo.

If you feel like it, take a look, let me know if there's anything I'm definitely missing out on.

Thanks!

What are you riding?

Sask Hwy 165 from Beauval, SK east is not a paved road. It is gravel with logging trucks. I would not recommend that route with a touring harley, not saying it can't be done but it won't be fun and you will have dirt in places you never new about on your bike. If you are riding a KLR or BMW Enduro, have at her, fun ride on those bikes.

Better to go east from Meadow Lake over to Big River, SK then down to Prince Albert and then take Sk Hwy 55 east to SK 106 North to Flin Flon, MB and back onto your original route from there. You will be tired or trees by the time you get to the area between the lakes in Manitoba and will relish the wide open prairie.

The rest of you route looks very inviting to ride.

Very nice trip. I've done part of your trip. When you leave Vancouver are you considering doing the Sea to Sky Highway as you leave. I fell in love with that road back in 2011 when I road to Alaska. The trip looks awesome!

I'll be on my RGU, so thanks for that catch! I'm sure we would've figured it out, but that definitely saves some turning around time!

It's definitely on the table. I hate riding through the Fraser Valley more than anything, but once past Hope, I kind of dig the canyons. I usually do the sea to sky 2 or 3 times a year, absolutely love it!

i would go across the Dunvegan bridge on the Peace river.
Your going up higher than we did but the road out of Chetwynd is one of my all time favorites. That is 97. Nice twisty ride.
I would also drop down a little lower and catch the Lolo Pass through Idaho and Montana.

I'd try to fit in Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park.

When at Cody WY, you should and ride Chief Joseph Brant (between 120 and Beartooth (US212)) . Yellow stone can be very busy.

I'd use the Mackinac Bridge and MI upper peninsula to avoid Chicago.

Icefield Parkway (Banff to Jasper)?

Spearfish Canyon loop when in the area.

Badlands NP, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's Tower, Black Hills NF all deserve some time since the route goes right by.

Good suggestions. We did that bridge last year. Went to that shipwreck museum and over to picture rocks. Great ride......dont forget tunnel of trees.
I am not sure if he is going through Iowa but the Loess Hills is an area I would ride again. Great scenery through there.

Cool

eh, be sure to stop & see the Terry Fox memorial on hwy. 11, just past Thunder Bay. I stopped there in 2002 on my way to Kelowna from North Bay Ontario. Very emotional visit!!! Good luck & enjoy your ride.
