Yall in biker heaven ridin in the Texas hills

Ok guys Id thought Id give you some feedback on my last weekend in Texas for a while. A little over a week ago we (missus and me) spent two days on the beasties in and around the Kerrville area of the Texas hill country. This place has got everything for a good biking experience. We stayed in Kerrville as the mid-point for our particular rides we had chosen to do during our stay. The roads are in good condition lots of hills (some steep), twists and turns ranging from flying up your own arse to gentle long S curves, just great riding country. The beastie was eating up the miles it was difficult to stop and eat sometimes. Generally, the beasties could go above posted speed limits on the tight sections of road up and over the ranges, but on the first pass I did the recommended speed just to check everything out before running the route again a little quicker. There are lots of things to see (Stonehenge2) as well as good food outlets along most of the major bike runs. In fact the whole area is bike friendly. Members who live in Texas will know what I am talking about

I got most of my information from the Internet (click on the link http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/). This site was useful and accurate on several fronts; rider experience, road difficulty rating, distances and times etc. From this information I made up my own runs to ride but as always time runs out and not everything gets/got covered, especially with a late start. From Kerrville we travelled to San Antonio for the night before retuning to Houston with a big smile on my face. Anyway, if you want to spend a good weekend/week check out the Texas Hill country for yourselves you wont be disappointed. Maybe, just maybe Kerrville would be a good venue for a Shark-week event sometime down the track. Anyway a pictures worth a thousand words check out the two videos links from the weekend. This is my first attempt at video editing and uploading etc. to You Tube. For those who are wrapped up for winter I hope they brighten up youre cold evening a little. One clip is on Highway 16 from Koyote roadhouse back into Kerrville and the other is our ride from Medina to Vanderpool on RR337. The picture is of me, the beastie at Stonehenge 2. Yep Texas has everything.

Nice write-up. The Hill Country is really nice. I try to make it there annually. The people are very biker friendly. You have to be acting like a complete ass to get local law enforcement on you. The area would make a nice location for a Shark Week.

Thanks Shrug,
Definitely going back next year for a week, its a great place for riding. I got held up in Houston or I would have had more time there.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Texas! The only roads in the state that rival that area are in the Big Bend area, you ought to put that on your bucket list.

We've got a Meet and Greet the first weekend in April 2013, in Medina. Koyote Ranch is Ground Zero. Hopefully one of these years there will be a Shark Week there.

I love the Hill Country and you are right that everyone over there is very Biker friendly. We generate a constant flow of income seeing as how we can ride year round down here. I got to see Stonehenge II back when it was in Hunt, TX with Easter Island Heads as well. Hated to see it get moved, but the only thing that stays the same is that everything changes. Glad you had a great time and great photo by the way.

Triplej,
I looked at that site as well; a buddy who lives in TX sent me the link. I used both when planning the weekend.

Paul,
Now you have cleared something up for me according to the info on the web site I understood Stonehenge 2 was in Hunt. When did they move it to Igram?
