1 day road trip yesterday

I finally was able to get out for god a ride yesterday, after dinking with the bike for the last week. Rode up to Lake Tahoe for the Antique wooden boat show in South Shore Tahoe Keys.
Saw some really NICE boats, some going back to the very earliest times of boat racing (1920's). It is interesting to see how the old timers did things back then. Stopped by Harrahs Casino for a great Buffet dinner, and threw away 20 bucks at the roulette table, just about as fast as I could get it out of my wallet. The restaurant is up on the 18 floor so you have a panoramic view of the Tahoe basin, but due to the current fire on the West coast, the whole place was filled with smoke. I hear that the smoke is all the way into Nevada now!! That's a long way from the fire.
The bike ran well, no pinging, no Back firing, So it looks like I got the thing running right again. It did get a bit hot going over the pass at over 7000 Feet after pulling up hill for an hour, but I would expect that. The new Rush headers give off a lot less heat as compared to the factory headers. Exhaust note is a bit sharper now, kinda of a BARK, instead of the old rumbling sound, especially when you get on the throttle. I like it. Long day. I started out at 8 AM and got back home at 10 PM. Something along the lines of 250 miles put on her yesterday. No cagers tried to kill me either. Great ride. Hwy 50 is a must ride IMHO. And one more plus, it was 107 here at my place, so I was glad I was not here to experience it. Temps in Tahoe were perfect. If I knew how to post pics, I would post some of the fire breathing crazy fast boats. Some of these boats had OVER 3000 HP and two drivers. Insane!!

Illegitimus non carburundum. Or something to that effect. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Sound like a real nice ride!
I worked in Reno about 10 years ago and I took quite a few rides up around Tahoe and it is a real nice ride, also took a ride down 50 to Placerville and that was great as well. I would like to get back up that way for a ride it is real nice country.

Highway 50 over Echo Summit is a great ride. Sounds like you had a great time.

Another alternative route is to go up to Pollock Pines, just a few miles east of Placerville, CA, then take Sly Park Road south to Morman Immigrant Trail and go up to Highway 88 and over Carson Pass. It's a bit higher in elevation than Echo Summit. (8,574 ft vs 7,382 ft) Kirkwood Inn is a great place to stop at for food/drinks.

If Tahoe is the target destination, you can catch Highway 89 (between Hope Valley and Sorensens, CA) and cut back over Luther Pass (7,740 ft) and come back into the Tahoe Basin at Meyers, CA.

If you're continuing over to Nevada, then just stay on Highway 88 and it will take you into the Gardnerville/Minden, NV area and take you right to Highway 395.
