Daytona Bike week 17..tips, suggestions?

Heading to Daytona in a few weeks, never been before. We are staying in Ormond beach. Any suggestions/tips on things to do outside of the strip? Was thinking of riding to cape canaveral, would like to do one of those air boat rides I see on tv all the time.. any other suggestions would be appreciated. Disney is probably too big and too crowded this time of year so thats probably out.

I am a real free biker and I have the license, registration, state inspection sticker, toll pass, insurance, and helmet to prove it.

St. Augustine is a neat place to see. Oldest city in America. The fort and then the 'old city's...Cool shops n great restaurants.

+1 on St Augustine. Just take SR40 east to Beach Blvd then north onto old dixie hwy to A1A then A1A north to St Augustine. Its a beautiful ride. Make sure to stop at Pizza Time 124 Saint George St, Best Pizza you'll
ever eat, and that's coming from someone born and raised in NYC. Plan on spending a few hours to walk around and sight see. Avoid Orlando at any cost.

+1 On St Augustine staying in Ormond Beach you are probably on or close to A1A , take A1A north along the ocean to St Augustine
Daytona Speedway loaded with vendors, food, and drink plenty of free parking for bikes
Destination Daytona (Rossmeyers HD) same as the speedway but with music and parking close will cost $
Main St Daytona drinking, music, vendors, people watching, did I mention drinking, if you go parking on a side street will cost $5-10.00 good all day. Save your receipt you can check out the action on Main St go for ride and come back later the same day and park for free
The Target store across from Daytona Speedway is usually a Meet and Greet around 11:00 on the first week-end, keep checking the forum for further info
For the airboat rides you need to go inland towards Christmas unless you want the Everglades then further south, make sure you call ahead for reservations. Christmas Fl approximately one hour, Everglades three and a half
Any questions shoot me a PM
Extended weather forecast looks good

When did they start charging for parking at Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona? I know I haven't been there in a couple of years.

Here is what i remember, but it's been 4 or 5 years:
The A1A up to St Augustine is a cool ride. Destination Daytona has a lot of vendors and stuff. There is a ride called the loop that is pretty just north of Ormond Beach. The dealer at New Smyrna usually has a few vendors and stuff going on (I distinctly remember the bikini bike wash). They used to have a big thing on Beach Street, don't know if they still do or not. If you take the A1A south there is a cool lighthouse with a great bar/restaurant, sorry, can't remember the name but it is just south of Daytona, maybe a 10-15 minute ride south of Main Street.

direwolf last year Kevin(Uncle Fuzzy on the forum) when in from the front side and was charged to park. Part of the issue could be they use to park in the field by JP Cycles but that is a recreational dealer now
Bleachy you could be talking about Ponce Inlet great place to visit and yes the "bikini bike wash" girls remember you too, the distinguished gentleman from Indy

Damn, well it's been two years since I stopped by Destination Daytona so I'll take your word on it. Last couple years I usually hit the speedway & then the Ironhorse to David Allan Coe.

Ride The Loop then head up A1A to St. Augustine a beautiful ride, you can also ride out to DeLeon Springs and the Fountain of Youth. You can also head south to New Smyrna Beach a really nice beach not as commercialized as Daytona. If you're staying in Ormond Beach area hit the White Eagle always a good time. Don't miss the Cole SlawWrestling at the Cabbage Patch either...
