4 days. 2152 miles 9 states.

Well. For my first trip just winging it. I had a fucking blast. I'm not happy to be home. Rain cut my trip short by 2 days. I would have gone to the Jersey Shore then spent a night at my other house. Was going to do Gettysburg today. Then been home tomorrow. States I hit.
Start
Ohio
West Virginia
Kentucky
Tennessee
Alabama
Georgia
North Carolina
Maryland
Pennsylvania

Trip started perfect. Beautiful weather day 1. Stayed in Bowling Green KOA. Nice clean bath house 32 bucks. Grabbed a Qt of Bud and a bottle of Jack. Had a decent buzz. Slept great. Hips hurt. Hard ground. Next day rode down to Nashville. I'm a huge Country fan. Real country. Conway, Loretta, George, Cash. Not today's pop country. So I got off the highway to get a pic or 2 all I wanted was a pic of my bike at the Opry. Didn't happen. Roads were closed. I did see the Cash museum. But I was there early and it was closed. Back on the highway. Stopped in Lynchburg, place was mobbed. Took a few pics and left. Decided to go to Florida. Sky's look iffy but not bad. I knew I was going to get wet at some point. But day 2? When I was in Alabama I seen a wall. A black wall of fuck that. Checked the radar and weather. I was screwed for hitting Pensacola. I wanted to hit the Gulf. So I headed North East and hit my first rain. Which sucked but meh, I'm riding. Seen the exit signs for the Cherohula but it was raining so i didnt bother. Considered the dragon but im going there in September. Headed to Tennessee stayed at a Nice KOA there. Hips really hurt. Lack of body fat isn't always good. Lol. Had some lesbian neighbors with a nice dog. So I had some adult conversation. They were school teachers. I don't know if ya ever ate in a Huddle House. It's like waffle house. I think the cast from deliverance worked there. Lol. Ya. It was bad. I can't carry. But I do have a big Kabar that hangs off my belt. I ate so fast I didn't enjoy the swill. But planned on doing breakfast there the next morning. Which I did. Same staff. Except now there was a cute one. But you knew right away when she talked. She was an anomaly. Cute ya, but will cut your throat while you sleep. So yup. Likely inbred and related to every one in that town. So. Look at the KOA app. Find on 500 miles away and head the way. Luray VA. Had about 30 minutes of rain. Then it was beautiful. Whenever I'd see a BRP sign I'd jump off and take a 20 or so miles ride then back on the interstate. The exit for Skyline drive had a Dicks. Bought a self inflating mattress. Best 50 bucks I spent the whole trip. Lol. Went to the top of the mountain. Seen it was 20 bucks. Made a u turn. (I'll be there in September with 4 other bikes) came back down and headed to Luray. Got there about an hour before dark. My timing on my arrivals was pretty consistent. Luck mostly. Lol. Set up my tent. Drank some of my Jack and checked the weather. Rain. Heavy rain all night. The rain all day. Fuck. So I go and get to bed. New mattress. Perfect. Rolls up super small. It's the exact footprint of my ultra light sleeping bag. So. Next morning I wake up at 5 it's raining. So I went back to sleep. Got up and no rain. Took a shower in the biggest cleanest private bath house I've ever seen. Luray KOA is beautiful. They have a kitchen for the tent sites too. Stopped raining long enough to pack up. As soon as I started the bike. Rain. Get off the bike. Put on the rain gear. Aggravated now. Cause. It's raining. Put my other house into the GPS and off we go. I stopped and found a nice restaurant and had a nice breakfast while I looked at wether maps and decided if I want to ride 3 days in the rain. The waitress asked where I was going and when I told her she asked if she could go. And was serious. Lol. If I was single. I'd have taken her up on that. She looked like a fun time. So. Back to where am I going. I'm 100 miles straight south of Gettysburg. All my friends are there. Light rain here. No rain there. My other house. 300 miles. Rain. So. Off I go to Gettysburg. Light rain for about 20 miles. Then none. Finally. I get there and everyone is happy to see me. But something is off. We do BW every year for 11 years. This year as some of you read. Shit popped up. I'm usually the (fuck it I'll pay it later type) but as I get older. I get more responsible. I shouldn't be here was all I kept thinking. My wife isn't with me. I shouldn't be here. So after lunch I told them all good bye and split. Headed out before the rain. Well. That was the plan. 20 miles north and a fucking torrential downpour. On rt30 where I was i found an old produce stand and parked under that. I had cars pulled over there too. It was that bad. Once it slowed up i headed out. RT30 to 915 across the mountains. Which would have been a beautiful ride. If it wasn't raining. Ill.tell ya. The BRP has nothing on PA for roads. You central PA guys know that. What sucks was some wet tar snakes spooked me. The rest of the ride was uneventful. Made it home at 11pm. Came in. Played with my dogs and went to bed. Wife was sleeping she works a 12 today.

I had a blast. I'm doing it again next year. But I'm heading West.

Next time. I'll add a luggage rack to put a cooler on. And get a battery operated fan for the tent. Other than that. I had everything I needed. Which was pretty good for my first time. The pics stopped. When the weather got bad. I could get out of Gettysburg fast enough. No pics there.

Gene Autry on the infotainment! My late great Aunt Blanche, god bless and I know he has, would be givin' you the biggest hug and shower you with enough baking to make your grandkid's grandkids fat for life. To her there was no one ever better than Gene Autry. You do like your real country and that little picture proves it.

Thanks for the write up, descriptive and colorful. Love the pictures, that is a super clean wash rack in that KOA eh!

Sounds like me and Aunt Blanche would have a good time. I'm a huge fan of baked goods and Country music and good company.

It was a blast. Next year. Weather will dictate my trip. If it's raining or gonna rain, I'm not going that way.
