Route 66

Has anyone ever done the entire Route 66 ride? I am interested in doing this but I know there are quite a few spots that don't show up on maps and if you take the wrong turn, your going to end up hitting dead ends. I would like to find someone that could share there experiences with this route or give me some direction. The other plan would be to sign up with "The Lost Adventure" and take their tour, I just don't know about the prices they charge.. Would take any information you guys can give me on this route.

Thanks,

theres also some parts of route 66 that are no longer on the main trail, in Oklahoma theres a stretch of the famous highway that goes from Miami, down i believe 7 miles through farmland , youll have to look it up it was only used in the 1930's for a few years and it is paved but its a single lane and every mile the route 66 moniker is in the road (painted)

Thanks,
I rode it this summer for my 50th Birthday with 3 other buddies. First thing is to determine is how much time you have. While there is a lot of the road that is closed, there is still so much to see and visit. Once your time is determined you can pick and choose the spots you really want to see.

This is one good resource you can start to plan with. https://www.amazon.com/Here-Route-Ro...=route+66+maps

Please feel free to PM me and I can share more. I took 16 days and 15 nights and did the whole thing. Even with that time I missed a lot of places. Some of that time is on the way back to home as well.

Go to Big Vern's Steakhouse in the Texas panhandle if you do it. It's in a town called Shamrock. Also, I'm riding over 30 years and I never experienced winds like I felt in the panhandle. Great ride though.
