I used to live in that area a few years ago. Try 401 S., 50 S., a lot of little state county roads around that area that are nice to ride on. Bring up Raleigh on Google maps and just explore all the roads around there most of them are OK to ride on after traffic time. If you were there over a weekend, go to what used to be ray price Harley, now I think its called tobacco Rd. Harley. There is usually a crowd there on weekends on the local people are used to be pretty friendly and you could probably join a ride that would be in the local area or they can tell you about some local roads.
