Reminiscing #5

Missed a few days since my last reminiscing thread; so I'll try to catch up "in a nutshell" Left my visit with my youngest son in El Cajon, rode a day and a half through the Mojave desert, Henderson NV HD for a new rear tire, then on to Utah national parks tour!

#5 Continued (pics are out of order) Menacing weather pics are from the HD dealer in Henderson,NV. Unloaded gear off of my bike into a corner of the service write-up dept, then 5 minutes after they take it back to the shop all h... breaks loose; monsoon rain, hail, trees laying sideways. Whew! Roads were washed out so dealer let me leave the bike there for the night, recommended a close by hotel/casino. Nicest room I stayed in during the entire trip for right at $70 best I remember. They drove me there in the shop pu truck; picked me up the next morning;(after insisting the day b4 that I NOT call them until "I WAS READY". Had a nice dinner, soaked in a warm tub, nice hot breakfast, then a nap; THEN I called them. (actually need a "spoiled" smilie). Loaded bike up, service mgr told me how to get out of the city,(had to bypass washed out sections of interstate), then on to Utah!

Nice pics Jack! I remember your Henderson/Vegas stop, that monsoon was no joke! You needed that stop to relax and pamper yourself too lol.

Utah pics are nice, great places to ride there! Looking at pic 4 on the the last set and man your bike is really packed up! Must have weighed 1500 lbs lol. You definitely were prepared and had everything you needed for that trip!

Best I remember, that storm NAILED your town also! I definitely had a LOT of gear on there, including a two burner camp stove & my "cowboy coffee pot"

Thanks sir, was a lifetime dream fulfilled! Feel very blessed to have been able to do it. If you're interested in the "full story" you can look in the "Road Trip Discussions/stories/pictures" section on page 14. The guys on here gave me sooo much advice and feedback on places to ride to, roads "that can't be missed", etc. Some roads, places I had never heard of; I'm also grateful to them for making it a much more fulfilling trip than I think it would have been if I "had stuck to my original plan". Glad you're enjoying it!
