Black Hills & Yellowstone 2019

I do a motorcycle trip each year with a group of riding buddies. The group typically ranges in size from 6-13 riders and we stick to rides that don't take more than a couple of longer riding days from the Chicago area. This year due to various engagements, such as getting married, the group was down to three of us. The ride is typically a week long, but this year we stretched the trip to thirteen days with more miles to cover. This is a recap of the trip and the adventure we had.

Summary Recap:
-Who: Matt (2016 Road Glide Ultra), Tim (2015 Ultra Limited), and Tom (2016 Road Glide Ultra)
-Days: 13 (May 31, 2019 – June 12, 2019)
-Mileage: 4,000+
-Weather encountered and ridden through: Sun, Wind, Rain, Hail, Sleet, and Snow
-Temperatures recorded while riding: High – 95 degrees, Low – 32 degrees
-Road conditions encountered and travelled on: Smooth, Rough, Wet, Dry, Snow covered, Gravel, Dirt, Removed due to construction (different warnings encountered: ‘Motorcyclists use extreme caution’, ‘Motorcyclists seek alternate route’, ‘Motorcycles not advised’)
-Speed Limits encountered: High – 80 mph, Low – 5 mph
-General areas visited: Black Hills of South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park
-Detailed points of interest: 1880s Town, Badlands National Park, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Needles Highway, Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Highway, Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon, Devil’s Tower, Center of the Nation Monument, Black Hills National Cemetery, Fort Meade, Little Big Horn National Battlefield, Beartooth Pass, Yellowstone (North Entrance, Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful, West Entrance, Grand Prismatic Spring, Mud Volcano, Dragon Mouth Spring, various other pools and springs, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Lake Yellowstone, East Entrance), Bighorn National Forest, Buffalo Bill Dam
-Wildlife encountered: Buffalo/Bison (including Matt being charged by a buffalo and the three of us being surrounded by a herd of buffalo that were walking down the road), Elk, Moose, Bear, multiple types of birds
-Cities of housing: Baraboo, WI; Sioux Falls, SD; Rapid City, SD; Red Lodge, MT; West Yellowstone, MT; Cody, WY; Albert Lea, MN

Sounds like an enjoyable trip and three is must easier to execute gas and food breaks versus thirteen. Glad everyone had a safe journey
