It is the nicest riding Ive ever done. Skyline Drive is another one in the area. Its awesome stuff. I rode from Connecticut to Tennessee and we went that route. You will love it.

If your going to be on the southern VA end near Meadows of Dan, stop and have sandwich at Poor Farmers country store. It's just like it sounds and this area is were quite a few bikes will stop. In this area there are a few places to stop for fantastic views. One being a few miles south on 58, lovers leap and the other being Squirrel Spour Road, which is actually State Route 614 that runs parallel to the parkway for a few miles and then heads south. Both of these are within 5 or 6 miles from the parkway. This area also has a Mabry Mill (depending on the day has all sorts of activities) and Chateau Morrisette (a winery)

Take a camera and a rain suit.
There are some very scenic overlooks, but storms coming over the mountains can be very intense.

You'll enjoy it. The southern end is more curvy in general. Parts of the northern end come down off the mountains and look like farmland but its still good riding. If your at the southern end you should consider the Cherohala Skyway. Its a great ride also. A lot of the side roads in that whole area are as good or better then the well known ones so don't be afraid to just explore.

Why haul, the bike when you can ride. It is only a 10 hr ride to Front Royal VA and that is where the Skyline drive starts at and the Sky line drive ends at the begining of the BRPWY.

I use to live right where the Skyline Drive and the BRP meet (Waynesboro, VA) don't let your guard down while up there. Watch for the wild animals (Bear, Deer, Turkeys, etc) also watch out for the tourist in cars and RV they don't have a clue in most cases. Lots of beautiful country, just keep it in the road because the shoulders are unimproved and the drop-offs usually don't have many guard rails. Watch you speed cause they will give you a ticket, you will encounter all different types of bikes from the pedal type to the racing crotch rockets. It's one of the things I miss the most about my hometown area. If you have any question just ask?????
