if people are interested I'll put in the leg work and get the hotels and stops ligned out and I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I've done that route between Idaho Falls and Cody a couple of times, and it's always great. Would love to hit the Montana portion some day. Unfortunately the SW trek is using up all of the vacation time (and more) than I have available.

What if the Hokey-Pokey really is what it's all about?

Thanks guys I'll be doing this ride regardless of any takers and will every year about the same time because the rates go down as the tourist season closes , plus there's less cagers then

I've rode that area 3x '05, '10 & '13. Aug. after Sturgis. There is still ice on Beartooth.

Nice riding weather in Aug. but the lodging is really expensive at time also.

You are fortunate to have Yellowstone "in your back yard"!

Keep us posted!

Sounds good to me. I've planned a ride from Fla to Lake Tahoe this spring, The Bear Tooth isn't too far out of the way. There's some great riding around there. Will give you a better time frame in a few weeks if that works for you. PM me with your email.

I just rode around that area last September but rode on the Chief Joseph Highway (Hwy 296) running between Cody and Hwy 212. The CJH should not be missed. I camped at Hunter's Peak campground (on 296 just 5 miles from where it intersects with Hwy 212) Highly recommend that CG.
