Meet and greet, overnight ride in Maine?

I was thinking of trying to put together a simple meet and greet for whoever wants to attend. I'm thinking southern-to-mid Maine location. Get together for lunch, then ride for 2-3 hours and end up at a motel/hotel where we could park the bikes and have a couple of frosties and perhaps have dinner together. Take a mid-morning ride for breakfast and then everyone goes on their way around noon. Looking at perhaps this weekend 9/20-21 (weather looks good at the moment) or the weekend of 10/4-5 as a back up in case the weather is bad. Or if this weekend is too quick, then we could do it 10/4-5. Let the majority rule.

Anyone else interested? If so, I'll find a hotel with a handful of rooms available for Sat. night. Leave a quick response here if you want to get together.

I'd be interested and could probably do the October date.

4 of us we will be heading to Portland Maine from Burlington Vermont this Saturday. Not sure which 'beverage place' we will end up at. BluByU suggested Bentleys in Arundel Maine. Hoping to meet up with him for some riding and beverage to.

One of the guys already book a hotel room for us main street South Portland for this saturday

The grandboy coming to tear the place up this weekend.

Supposed to hike in to the old trains in the deep, dark woods of the Allagash next weekend.

Might be on for Oct 4 and 5 if the weather ok.

Since everyone but Ron already had commitments this weekend, let's shoot for the weekend of Oct 4/5 weather permitting. I'll see if I can find a hotel/motel with reasonable rates for that Saturday night for those who want to stay over.

I should be at Bentley's this coming sunday for the afternoon.

I'd like to make one of these rides happen.

We'll put something together for that weekend and hope we have some nice weather. That early in October the weather should still be decent.

I doubt we're going to make it. We just got back, we're playing catch up and dealing with a litter of puppies and my dog sitters are on vacation.
The riding sesaon isn't over yet. Have fun and be safe.

Looks like the weather is going to be great ... I still want to go but probably not on an overnight.

OK, here's my thoughts for getting together on Saturday 10/4. I'm thinking of the general Boothbay Harbor / mid-coast area. We could get together at around noon, take a short ride (maybe to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse) to get some lunch, ride 1-2 of the Peninsula's and then those who want to stay head for the hotel/inn for a frosty before dinner. Those who don't want to stay can leave before or after dinner. We could grab dinner at Montsweag Roadhouse or King Eider's Pub, or wherever everyone wants to go and then head back to the hotel for a little socializing. In the morning we could do a short 30 minute ride to Moody's Diner for breakfast and then ride until about lunch time before heading our separate ways.

Does that sound OK? (For a quick reference, the area we're talking about is 1:45 north of Portsmouth, NH ... or about 1 hour from Portland) I'll continue to look for a reasonably priced motel/inn for those who want to stay over Saturday night.

Anyone have any suggestions to add?

I thought I'd take one shot at getting a few of us together for a day before we have to think about swapping the bikes for ATVs or snowmobiles for the next 5 months. :(

Planning on showing up if the weather co-operates.
Rode last Friday evening, was 41 when I got back. Kinda fresh.

Been to Montsweag Roadhouse, pretty cool pub. Have been trying to get to
King Eiders last couple times down, havent got there yet, so I'm in for that.

Pemiquid Light is always nice. We could ride down to Christmas Cove too, next penisula over, road is right on the way to Damariscotta from Pemiquid.
Shaws Lobster pound is just down the road from the light, great lunch spot right in New Harbor. Smell the bait and watch the lobster boats tie up. I think its still open for the season.

We'll have to go up to Cowshit Corner for a photo op at the sign. Any luck and the Cherch of the Holy Cow guys might be around too .

What are you thinking about staying? Boothbay? I"m ok for a day ride too, not that far down.

Montsweag RoadHouse is a good grub destination, as is
King Eiders, and also the Newcastle Publick House which is just over
the bridge from King Eiders.
I'll know more next week at this time if Saturday looks like a work
or play day. My public works director will be on vacation, as
will my superintendent......Kinda odd leaving the clowns in charge of the circus.

Somewhere between Boothbay and Waldoboro. The place I wanted to get (Cod Cove Inn - very clean and well kept, and reasonably priced) has a 2 night minimum on weekends so I had to start over. If anyone has a lodging suggestion in that general area feel free to PM me.

OK, I'm working on a couple different lodging options. Since it's only one night, I went for price over location. I'm looking at two older motels in Boothbay, but not down in the harbor center. Waiting for confirmed price but they should be at or less than $100. plus tax.

Thought we'd meet at the motel at around 11:30 - noon on Saturday. From there we can grab some lunch and then do some riding on a couple of the penninsulas. Get back to the motel around 5, freshen up and have a frosty, then head for dinner. I think the trolly is still running until Columbus Day but trying to get that confirmed. It'd be nice of we could take the trolly to where ever we decide to go for dinner.

Sunday, we'd ride to Moody's Diner or some other breakfast place for a mid-morning breakfast. People can depart after breakfast or ride til noon and then head towards home.

I'll post the motel info as soon as I get it, likely tomorrow (Monday) by mid-day.

It was in the low 80's here yesterday, unbelievable for this late in Sept. Look forward to seeing you both. I'll be in a much more relaxed mode than last time. Weather looks spotty right now. Cloudy with rain showers coming in later in the day on Saturday with some rain Sunday a.m.

We'll re-check in a couple days. If you want to check on your own, use Boothbay Harbor, ME. as the location. Let's see what the forecast looks like by Tuesday night or Wednesday a.m. and then make the call.
