Daytona Meet and Greet planned

Anyone interested in getting together for an hour or 2 on Wednesday during bike week for a meet and greet? Join us at Hooters (directly across from the race track) at 11:00 a.m. We could do a short 'Glide Ride after the M & G if anyone's interested. Hope to see you there .....

Hope to meet you both. A couple of us will be there at 11:00 a.m. for sure, hopefully others will see this and join in. I ride an '11 Sedona Orange RGC, and Bob rides a blue on blue '15 CVO. See you there.

Pretty lame excuse there Taz! You are choosing to go to your daughter's wedding rather than hang around a restaurant parking lot with a handful of old grizzled bikers? ..... I just don't get it!

You know I might be able to run down from Jacksonville in the morning on Wednesday. Just need to figure out which Roadie to ride.

I guess I should have read this thread this morning. I'm at Hooter's and there's only 2 other Sharks in the parking lot.

Well, as the guy who started the Hooters "Meet and Greet" thread, I apologize for not being there. In fact I was also the cause of "BobRG15" not being there as well. I was bunked out at Bob's house for 3 nights for bike week. My trip across the state was uneventful on Tuesday. Wed. pm I left his place headed to the M & G and about three miles later I had to pull off the road as I was enveloped in a cloud of burnt oil and smoke.

Turns out that 1.5 of the 2 breather bolts were missing. Those bolts are the hollow ones that are supposed to carry a mist of oil back into the induction system. One bolt had just vibrated out and was along side the road somewhere in Florida, while the other bolt sheared off in the middle and only a 1/4" piece was still in the tube. Once the first one fell out, the whole air cleaner assembly (Ness Big Sucker) was apparently vibrating around causing the second bolt to shear.

After wiping as much oil off the engine as I could with a few paper towels, I then ripped another towel into smaller pieces and twisted two of them up and stuck them into the bolt holes to try to keep the oil from dripping out all over the motor and pipes again. We rode down to a local indie shop (http://www.palmcoastmotorcyclerepair.com/) Owner is Tony and he's a stand up guy and has 30 years experience as a tech. Despite being slammed with work, he searched around his shop and actually had an installation kit for these ACs ..... two hollow bolts and two O-rings in a plastic bag. He got me back on the road in 40 minutes and only charged me $50 for parts and labor. After Wednesday's experience, I highly recommend his shop. How many indie shops do you see where both the showroom and the shop area is cleaner than your mother's living room. What are the odds that this indie shop would have those parts on the shelf! Better to be lucky than good as they say.

The weird thing is that the AC and the hollow bolts were installed 13k miles ago and then never touched. Why it took this long for them to vibrate out is a mystery. The H.D. dealer who installed it (along with several other items) apparently didn't use blue thread locker on them in the first place. I do check for loose bolts about twice a year but for some reason I over looked those two breather tube bolts.

So that's the story of why we never did get to Hooters for the M & G.
