Upcoming surgery

I'm 50 and was having digestion issues. I had a colonoscopy done about a week and a half ago and they found a tumor. They did bloowork and a cat scan and said it looks contained to the colon. Dr tried explaining the biopsy to me, saying it's not cancer yet (?) but needs to come out. Waiting on the wife now and will be heading out to see our third surgeon, this one a colorectal specialist at jefferson in Philly. Last one said I won't be able to ride for 4-6 weeks. (need another opinion, lol)

Everything is looking like a full recovery ahead. If I wouldn't have had the colonoscopy it would have been a different story in a couple years, maybe months or weeks. who knows. Get checked guys, and get checked out regularly.

Oh, also started the chantix on saturday and hope to be smoke free in a couple of days!

Bravo for doing the right thing and getting your BUTT Light done.

They did mine 2.5 years ago and told me I had a polyp farm in there, they cleaned it out at scope time, but now I need to go again and get 'er done just in case.

Felt very confident after seeing the Jeff surgeon. He says there was no cancer found during the biopsy, but that does not guarantee it will be clean once they get it out and check everything. Had nothing to do with polyps, this was caused by Lynch syndrome, a hereditary disease that causes colon cancer in men and uterine cancer in women. If anyone in your family was diagnosed at an early age you should be checked out. They also check your dna for the missing gene.

5 days into the cintrax and no side effects yet

Hey, Vic~ Like many have said, you are being treated at one of the finest medical institutions in the area. Are they doing regular surgery, or the less invasive laparascopic? In 2008 I had laparscopic surgery to remove scar tissue due to diverticular disease. Like you, my problem was diagnosed by a colonoscopy. Happy to report all is well now. Good luck on your road to recovery and don't rush things. The bike will be there when the doc gives you the green light.

PM me if you have any questions.

laproscopic surgery on 7/18. Excited to have it done and start feeling normal. It's been a while since I could eat out and not have to worry what I was going to feel like afterwards. And yeah, I won't push it too hard. I don't want to have to get cut back open.
