Front tire rotation wrong ?

Just traded in my 07 RG for 11 RG ultra. Looking at the front tire it seem to me to be mounted backwards. According to the arrow on the side of the tire its mounted right but it seem to me that it will be directing water towards the center of the tire instead of to the sides. Front and rear tires are the same tread pattern but they're not mounted to be spinning in the same direction.

Yeah that is the correct way. They had an issue with the tires cupping. My 09 came with the tread the opposite way and was mounted correctly. It cupped very badly and the dealers were replacing them with the new tread pattern like the one in your pic. They said they would replace the cupped tires only if people were complaining about it. They never sent a notice to anyone or at least i never got a notice for the issue. Kind of "squeaky wheel gets the grease" sort of thing.

The rear tire is the same tread pattern and its mounted to take water away from the center. The front seems like it will be directing water towards the center of the tire instead of away.

The water will channel out from under the tire no matter which way it is rotating. The reverse of the tread on the front wheel is to improve traction for braking and cornering.

My son's 2009 RoadGlide had the front mounted opposite of how my 2011 RGU came and he had cupping issues also. The dealer replaced his going in the new direction and has been working fine since.

When HD was addressing front end wobble they found Dunlap tires were the issue in some cases, in saying this they had V up tire and V down.
