2015 radio update help

So I just noticed my infotainment system is behind by one update, so thought I would download the update and install it. Followed the instructions like the Harley site said, downloaded, extracted the file, put the file on the usb drive (said at least 8 gb all I had was a 2 gb)

Went to my bike, turned the ignition to accessory, turned the radio on, plugged the usb memory stick into the plug in on the right glove box and nothing happens.

I have reformatted the drive repeated the steps, same result, nothing happens. Any ideas of what's wrong.

Harley states 8gb or larger and you are trying to utilize a 2gb. I am no computer expert but that leaves you 6 short of what Harley already stated. $11 I paid for my 32 gig USB thumb drive. Try the correct size and see where that gets you. Good luck!

Wow.....reminiscent of that OTHER forum.

Kenny, try it with an 8 gig flash drive. Although the file will fit on smaller drives, I assume the update process uses the additional space to cache information such as your system settings and such while the update is taking place. Kind of like how an alarm clock uses the 9v battery to maintain the time when the power goes out. Good luck.

BH, try lightening up a bit. This is not that other forum.

I do not know what other forum you are referencing, but I was not saying this in a rude manner. I guess after reading it again I understand how it can be mistaken. Sorry Kenny. Sometimes when you are having an issue you overlook what you already read or wrote and he had stated that Harley said 8gb and he only had 2. I was just trying to say he should retry it with what is recommended.

I ran into the same problem. Spoke to a guy at the dealer. He said. Once you have the file downloaded on your desktop. Double click it. You will see two files. Drag the large file only over to the flash drive. Do not drag the small file. That flash will work. This is the latest update for the 15 CVO RGU.

Same here. I've done a couple of updates and never had a problem. Follow the directs on the website. The only thing different is, when it starts the process on the bike, at some time you will have to remove the thumb drive and then plug it back in to let it finish. ON the screen was a little confusing because it doesn't actually say remove the thumb drive. I think I remember it coming up, install thumb drive. I took a chance, unplugged it and put it back in and it finished. Good luck.

Thumb drive doesn't need to be 8gb... I use a 2gb.... ( it DOES depend on the SIZE of the ISO file though... so make sure you have a drive big enuf for the ISO file )

The ONLY file you need to put on the thumb drive is the ISO file. Once you download the file from HD.... open it and click on the ISO file and extract ONLY the ISO file to the thumb drive.

Plug the USB drive into the bike and turn to ACC.... follow on screen instructions..... be patient... let it work......

after you unzip the file take the ISO and the txt file(out of the folder) and move it to the root directory of the USB drive, then plug it in.
