CB Install

Does anyone know where the CB module mounts on a 2016 RGU? I'm assuming it is the same as the 2015 RG. I have a service manual but it shows the FLHTK, can't figure out where the module mounts. I have the front fairing off the bike, I see the CB antenna cable underneath the Boom Radio Unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2016 FLTRU CB mount

CB is an option on the 2016 RGU.

I seem to remember seeing that it mounts under the left speaker assembly (right speaker when viewing from the front with the outer fairing off). I don't think there is room on top of the radio like on the batwings.

I will keep searching to try and remember where I saw that.

Well, finally got it put in. After checking every possible location for the bracket, I was able to determine it goes to the right of the Infotainment system as looking from the front. The CB module mounting bracket goes under the brace bracket, the holes lined up and the connectors for the antenna and Boom Box to CB fit perfectly. Was able to use 1/4" short bolts, washers and nylon lock nut to secure the bracket. Everything is together and working...

Sparks,

If possible would you take some pictures and post them up before you put the outer fairing back on.

It would help others here for sure.

I have already put the fairing on, but I'm waiting on connectors for my SWR Meter, I can take pictures then and also a brief how to on matching the antenna.

Is the wiring to the rear already there? The coax ...

When it is fired up does the Infocenter automatically read the CB?

I am getting my 2016 tomorrow ant the CB is something I want to add for bike to bike comms.

Yes the connector is under the fairing in the front. I believe it was the Grey connector. The antenna cable is there as well and you don't need to have anything programmed to get the CB to work.

Also, I had an issue on where the CB unit actually mounted under the fairing. If looking at the front of the bike, it mounts to the right of the Infotainment system. The CB TNC antenna connector should be right under there as well, zipped tied. You will also need a switch pack for the right controls for Push to Talk. That is a very easy install.

Let me know if you need any further help.

Part number for CB install on 2016 RGU and others as well

You will need the following parts to install the CB on a 2016 RGU and many other 2014 and up touring models. Please check your bike compatibility first. I know this is what works on my 2016 RGU.

Boom! Audio Bike to Bike Communications Kit P/N 76000486
Antenna P/N 76250-09
Antenna Mounting Stud P/N 76000166
Switch Pack P/N 71500130

Ride safe everyone!

What about RG Specials

I have a 2015 Road Glide Special. Anyone install a CB on the RG special? Really want to be able to have bike-to-bike comm for HOG rides.
